Course Name: English Composition Term/Session:
Fall 2014, Session 1
Course Number: ENC1101 Reference
Number: 495722
Faculty Introduction:
Here is a little bit about me:
I have been teaching college classes in person and online for the past 14 years. Before that, I taught high school and middle school for 8 years; while also coaching basketball and football. I have a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership, a M.A. in English from Florida International University and a B.A. in Economics from Florida Atlantic University. I was a traditional student for my bachelors and masters degrees, attending classes on campus. But as a doctoral student, most of my classes were online. Therefore, I have learned to appreciate both the advantages and challenges of online learning. So, I hope to be able to use my experience, both as an online teacher and learner, to help make our class go as smoothly as possible.

I live in Hollywood and am married to a fellow college
professor. We have two children, a 12 year-old boy and a 10 year-old girl. So
needless to say, I lead a very busy life like I’m sure many of you do!
When I have time, I
enjoy taking trips to the Keys, boating a bit, going to the beach, reading and
watching football and basketball.
Please don’t hesitate to tell me how I can help you
succeed.
I wish you tons of success this term in all of your classes.
Cheers,
Ben Ruby
